The John Robinson Professional Development Awards

To celebrate the coming together of NABBS & UBMA in 2012, UBMA announced a limited number of Sponsorships in support of applications for Professional Registration, to Registered Science Technician (RSciTech), Registered Scientist (RSci).  These sponsored awards are named in memory of John Robinson, a previous UBMA Chair and Member for many years.

We invite applications from aspiring Bioscience Technical staff employed at our member Institutions, unless currently their employer runs a scheme to pay for membership and professional registration.  A CV together with a letter of recommendation from a line manager or supervisor should be submitted via email to registrations@ubma.org.uk.

The sponsorship will cover one year’s fee toward achieving Professional Registration and one year’s membership of a licensing body, the Institute of Science & Technology.

In capturing career development and on the job learning alongside any formal qualifications, achieving Professional Registration,  whilst developing this transferable skill set, also demonstrates applied scientific knowledge, competence and commitment to high standards of professionalism.  Professional Registration will provide recognition, status and a potentially competitive edge for career progression.

Congratulations to the following UBMA sponsored members who have gained registration to date:

  • Luke Moore (RSciTech) – Abertay University
  • Fiona Moulton (RSci) – University of Leeds
  • Sue Marcus (RSci) – University of Leeds
  • Danielle Yates (RSciTech)- Nottingham Trent University
